Making European competence visible

European citizens are entitled to acquire education, training or work anywhere within the European Union. Europass is designed to encourage mobility and lifelong learning in an ever-enlarging Europe.

It aims to help citizens make their competence easily understandable throughout Europe. Europass presents knowledge, skills and experience in a clear and comparable way, which helps skilled Europeans on the move as they seek opportunities for further study or employment that reflect their abilities in other European countries.

The Europass CV is the backbone of the Europass: a Europass portfolio for an individual citizen will include the Europass CV completed by the citizen him- or herself, and one or more other Europass documents, according to the specific learning and working history of that citizen.

The Europass Certificate and Diploma Supplements allow skilled people to present their education and training in compliance with the single Community framework for competences. The aim is to build mutual understanding and trust in terms of what qualifications and studies mean in different countries and what they involve.
